Shawna Krueger is a bilingual certified yoga instructor specializing in Progressive Ashtanga and Rocket, the host of the Leadership and Yoga podcast, an international retreat leader, and the author of the Ritual of Writing Journal.

As the host of the Leadership and Yoga podcast, Shawna’s work revolves around the quest for more yoga in leadership, and better leadership in yoga. With a background working for law firms in the Seattle area, she now uses that experience to bridge the gap between the yoga lifestyle and leadership principles in both English and Spanish.

Shawna holds a BA in International Studies Political Economy and has completed two 200-Hour Teacher Trainings: Ashtanga Yoga Puerto Rico and Siddhi Yoga International. She is also trained in Rocket yoga and has completed a certificate program in guided meditation and Applied Polyvagal Theory in Yoga. Her own personal practice started in 2012 as a family activity before morphing into a passion she now takes pride in sharing with others.

She seeks to help students see the complexities of yoga as inspiring rather than intimidating. It is her belief that yoga is a ritual that can bring us immense joy, and that we can find contentment in the practice itself, beyond anything that we expect it to do for us. Her teaching philosophy is, “I will tell you where to look, but not what to see.”

Shawna is from Seattle, WA but resides in Austin, TX and currently teaches in person at Yoga East Austin. Please see studio websites for scheduling.

ABOUT SHAWNA

Shawna specializes in transforming leadership lessons from the yoga world into easy-to-understand, engaging stories that inspire self-leadership in our everyday lives.

Accessing the boldness required to bring our gifts into the world is what lights Shawna up and an attitude of inspiration in the face of what can be intimidating is what she aims to serve to the world. Shawna grew up working on a farm in the apple orchards, was the first in her family to make it to college and learned a foreign language as an adult to presentation-level fluency. She entered the yoga world over a decade ago without being able to touch her toes and has since mastered handstanding and works hands-on weekly with students to help them learn as well.

Shawna’s love for yoga and background in the law and coaching world lead to the creation of the Leadership and Yoga podcast, and the Ritual of Writing journal, both of which emphasize the great joy that can be found in simply putting bare feet on a mat or a pen to paper. From the vibrance and clarity of presence, she has seen that people are inspired to “bring themselves to the surface” as the dragon fly does to transform. In her opinion, that is where the magic happens: We are released from stagnation, we have the confidence to face our own internal questions and to make moves… and from there everything we create and share with the world is different.

“Sometimes you just meet the right people at the right time in your life! and I am indeed lucky and grateful to have met Shawna when I did. I have been binging on her podcast leadership and yoga ever since I heard her first episode. I found  her message and personality to be genuinely magnetic and inspiring. That’s when I knew I wanted to do her course. At that time of my own transformative journey, I was missing much needed clarity and momentum  to get my yoga business moving, I was pretty much stagnant when I signed up.

But I was waiting for a course that felt like it had substance, something of high quality, which is exactly what her coaching course has provided me with. She offers transformative tools and thought provoking resources that have helped me clear many blockages that were holding me back. I’m only halfway through and am excited to see my journey unfold. I look forward to the calls each week to see what else I will learn. I am ever so grateful and inspired by her professionalism. She helped  me to cut out the noise and do the actual work that is required to keep growing in my development. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

“I just finished listening to your podcast on your first retreat! Celebrating your success and what's to come. Love your energy and calming demeanor. I'm preparing my first retreat right now and feel more confident after hearing your podcast (on Spotify). Loved your encouraging words to overdeliver, undervalue + recentering self when stressed (the things that may bother me are meniscal to the impact that's being created + should not take away from celebration). Thank you for doing the work so you can be a blessing to me. You have my continued support.”

“The value you bring me is light, essentially, I feel that you radiate light and inspiration. You inspire me so much and I learn from how you act and how you think, in terms of knowledge but also in terms of how much you know yourself. You have inspired me to also have that connection with myself and know myself better.

You helped me open my mind and realize that if we have a passion we must believe in ourselves, go for new horizons and knock on infinite doors without fear of rejection or failure since that is part of the path.

As a writer I had the pleasure to publish an article in a Portuguese magazine called Saúde Actual and I loved seeing results so quickly throughout my time working with Shawna!! I am very grateful for this process and I only have gratitude to Shawna and a lot of strength to continue on my professional path.”

“Discovering the magic in the “mundane” is how I would describe my journey with Shawna. In the beginning of this summer, resistance had crept in to become the dominant force in my life. This resistance managed to bleed into my relationships, my thoughts and my actions. I lost awareness of the magic all around and couldn’t recognize the divine within and without. The presence of Shawna brought about a guiding light for self-discovery. Her calmness and positivity shown through and helped me realize the infinite possibilities all around me. She helped me identify the “con-artist” that lives in my mind as the source of this resistance. Once I could detach myself from this con-artist, flux was replaced with flow which gave rise to self-reflection and self-discipline. With Shawna’s guidance, yoga is no longer a part of my daily routine but rather a way of life. Observing the divine in the self and others has helped me realize the power of love, gratitude and the magic of existence! Jai ho.”

take rocket yoga with me

This is a more moderate take on the traditional Rocket 2 experience but is still quite a challenge with plenty of handstands and options to get upside down... it is an advanced yoga class. Inside you will find a demo of helpful hands-on assists if you are a fellow yoga teacher.
